We're taking part in the ULTIMATE sleepover, by spending a night in HM Prison Shrewsbury to help raise money for Cash for Kids, in association with Love Brum
On Thursday 28th September, Area Sales Director, Stuart, will be pulling out the orange jumpsuit and heading to the slammer to help raise money for Cash for Kids. Stripped of all luxuries, Stu will be taking it back to basics and spending the night in the 6th top ranked Dark Tourism site in the world. Can he handle a whole night? The more money raised will help Stu unlock certain luxuries, helping make his stay behind bars somewhat more enjoyable.
All donations received will help Cash for Kids improve the lives of children across the UK.
Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity helping the children that need it most across the UK.
Their mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in our communities who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs. They believe that all children should be able to express their individuality, achieve their potential and live life to the full.
Cash for Kids work with grass-roots organisations that aim to make a difference to young lives, directly supporting families who often have nowhere else to go.
Centrick has and always will set itself apart with our commitment not just to excellence in our service levels but by the impact we have on the communities that we serve. From our own charity work with Reconnected, which aims to point the spotlight on and provide a route out of homelessness in Birmingham, to our commitment to giving all of our team paid for charitable days every year and of course supporting local, national and international events like Red Nose Day, Comic Relief and the Earthquake appeal – Centrick always aim to be the change that we want to see in the world. It’s incredibly important for us to give back to the community in any way we can. LoveBrum and Cash for Kids are vital platforms and the work that these charities do is changing lives every day, and we’re proud to be a part of that.
LoveBrum is a registered charity that supports hidden gem projects across Birmingham that are often volunteer led and that deliver real change within the city.
They support the ‘hard-to-reach’ projects, that do not receive the platform or funding that they probably deserve. They aim to support over 36 projects per year, and to reach out to all corners of the city to remind people how great Birmingham is.
Shrewsbury Prison was a Category B/C men's prison, which was decommissioned in 2013. It's now in the top 10 dark tourism sides in the world, along side the likes of Chernobyl and Pompeii.
Built in 1868, the prison has seen 73 executions, so it's no wonder that it's halls are known to be haunted by past inmates, including the Grey Lady and the Shadow Man. With many visitors reporting unexplained experiences, there's no telling what we might see this September.
