51-storey skyscraper backed by planning committee

Plans for a 51-storey residential skyscraper, One Eastside, near Birmingham’s proposed HS2 station have been granted planning permission.

Birmingham City Council’s planning committee comprehensively backed plans for the scheme some four months after the scheme was put on hold due to objections by heritage campaigners from the Victorian Society.

Court Collaboration’s One Eastside scheme will include 667 apartments across two buildings, with residential gardens and courtyard spaces, as well as a gym, cinema and sky lounge. The architect on the scheme is Glancy Nicholls.

In December, the company learned that it had to submit fresh plans for the development after Birmingham City Council confirmed that an objection from the Victorian Society was omitted from a Planning Committee report.
